The Dolphin Society
          The historian's treasure trove

SIGN ME UP!

WHAT IS THE DOLPHIN SOCIETY?

We are excited to announce a membership program for teachers and parents who love Classical Historian's Socratic approach to history. The Dolphin Society exists to encourage its members in their noble work as teachers of history, to rejoice with them in the privilege of training the young, and to equip them to be masters of the art of history education.  Many Dolphin Society materials are designed to be used directly with your students and children.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Everything in The Dolphin Society is intentionally designed to fulfill one of our three foundational purposes:
  • To equip parents and educators to lead students to understand, engage with, and love history. Continuous personal training not only hones our knowledge and skills as historians, it also fosters habits of thinking and action that enable a teacher to better instruct and inspire young students. In an age of information overload, The Dolphin Society offers time-tested, needed support for Socratic teachers.
  • To lighten the burden of a busy educator or homeschooling parent by providing Socratic teaching resources. Even if you know history and lead Socratic discussions with confidence, having access to hundreds of resources for various grade levels in print, audio, and video makes teaching simpler. The Dolphin Society makes it easier to meet and go beyond changing standards and requirements all Socratic history teachers face. Many of these materials may be used directly with your students.
  • To provide fellowship for all teachers, parents, and budding historians who wish to know and teach history the Socratic way. To learn and teach history, one needs an active community for discussion and fellowship. Dolphin Society members form a community that inspires, educates, and edifies.

History Book Club
BOOK CLUB

The purpose of The Dolphin Society Book Club is to hone our craft as historians by discussing great books.
Our books this year:

America's Cultural Revolution, How the Left Conquered Everything, by Christopher F. Rufo,
ISBN 978-0-06-322753-8

For this year, we are reading a very exciting and intellectually disturbing book that traces the beginning of the New Left in the United States, and details how the radical left has taken over America's major institutions. Out of all the books from the Dolphin Society, this is the most fun and easy to read. Perhaps it is because it is recent history or that we can easily see the results of this movement or because the author does a great job with writing, I guarantee everyone will enjoy this book and learn how America became dominated by the left.

Book Club members:
  • Read and discuss history books
  • Learn how to teach world and American history
  • Engage in Socratic discussions with other Club members
  • Discover how to lead Socratic discussions on historical topics
