These newsletters are created for you, the teacher, to give you teaching tips on how to teach history, the Socratic discussion, how to engage students, and very importantly, how to convey what you are doing to the parents of your students. Very often, history is not respected as much as other subjects, such as Language Arts or Math. History is thought of as a by-product of reading, and adults do not see how much we are doing as history teachers.
Each Teacher Newsletter contains a "Parent Newsletter" which will help you communicate effectively with the parents of your students, letting them know what is being taught each week of class, and informing them of the thinking, reading, and writing skills your students are learning. The Parent Newsletter will also help you provide to Educational Specialists a review of what is being taught. And, we will offer teaching tips regarding curriculum and discipline/behavior. The Parent Newsletter is an excellent way to keep a weekly communication going from you (the teacher) with the parent.
We've created the Teacher and Parent Newsletter in Word, so that you can edit the document before emailing it to the parents of the children you teach. Make sure you read and edit to fit your needs!
Please let us know what you think of the Teacher Newsletter, adding any suggestions to what you’d like to see in it where you see appropriate. Here is to a great year!
