Online Course Testimonials

My daughter, Haley, 15 years old, enrolled in high school World History wrote this:
The Classical Historian classes have been some of the most enjoyable learning experiences I've ever had. I love that I get to learn about philosophical movements alongside historical events. I'm really looking forward to attending another online class next year!
--
Your email is timely given how my daughter just mentioned that she only trusts the political/ ethical/philosophical opinions of a handful of well-reasoned adults and Mr. Adam DeGree is at the top of her list. Sadly, I didn’t even make the cut!
So...
Mr. Adam DeGree’s Gov&Econ class comes highly recommended. He has developed my high school senior’s ability to differentiate between the many political points of view, as well as decipher the value of well-reasoned thought. The quality of teaching has made this her favorite high school class.
--
My two middle-school students have really enjoyed Adam De Gree's Medieval History course! They have both grown in their ability to defend their positions using textual evidence and articulate their position clearly. Also, each of them has mentioned how patient "Mr. Adam" is with the class! I am so thankful for this course!

Dear Mr. De Gree,
I just got my AP scores today and received a 5 on the U.S. History test! The score distributions of the test were
5 - 11.7%, 4 - 17.9%, 3 - 22.5%, 2 - 23.4%, 1 - 24.5%. Classical Historian course gave me a great foundation for the main concepts, and I was able to fill in all the details with some other resources. Thanks again for all the help you gave throughout the year!
 Everett (Student)

The class is really amazing. This is our first year homeschooling and we were previously at a private "classical" school.  The teacher is knowledgeable and most importantly is patient and explains the topics until the students understand the discussion.                                                                                                                                                    MaryLu (Parent)

I have really enjoyed taking this class, I feel as though I have learned a lot about the way our country works. I really appreciated that instead of just stuffing our heads with facts, we were encouraged to think critically and form our own opinions about different topics. The small class size was really helpful because it made it easy to voice my thoughts and to hear other opinions. I feel that Mr. De Gree really believes in what he is teaching and he really cares about giving us the tools to be effective members of our society. I believe that after taking this class, I am much more knowledgeable and equipped to be an active participant in our government.

High School American History taught by Mr. John De Gree is the perfect history course for Christian teenagers. Each class presents an opportunity to interact with fellow students and our teacher Mr. De Gree who, with his extensive knowledge of American history engages students in animated conversations that are both informative and enjoyable. It is at a convenient time, as well, and should work out for most teens, even those with tight schedules. I strongly recommend this class for any Christian High-schooled student.                                                       Ethan Clausen (Student)

We love your classes John. I love that you pull current events into the Socratic discussion class and into the course.
Heather Clausen (Parent)

John, I also have been meaning to tell you that Virginia homeschooled students have to take a standardized test each year, and Luke took the 9th grade TerraNova/California Achievement Test, and in the Social Studies portion, he got every question correct, for the highest possible score.  He said it was really easy.  I am sure your American history class with him last year contributed to that.  Thanks again for all your work!                                                        Jane (Parent)
