In this course, students will learn how to develop arguments that are grounded in historical evidence. Then, they will debate and discuss complex issues from throughout world history. The course textbook will introduce students to the great ideas and cultural achievements of Western Civilization, while they will read from outside sources, and conduct their own research, into the civilizations of Asia and Africa.
Students who complete this course will be able to: 1. Critically read primary and secondary sources 2. Provide cogent arguments in a Socratic Discussion 3. Search for the truth in honest dialogue 4. Develop strong speaking and listening skills |
