The parent needs no more than one hour per week at the beginning of the school year. Once the student learns the tools of the historian, he is able to conduct the research on his own. From this time on, the parent spends less than an hour per week with instruction time. The student is responsible for the work, and has to present to the parent his argument, in speech and then in writing. It is a great curriculum because it is the student who does the reading and researching on his own time. The parent then meets with the student once per week

Teaching with the Take a Stand! series helps me get to know my children and students better and it helps them how to think critically, form historical judgement, and express themselves in speech and in writing.
